Sad news: Jennifer Garner Revealed That She “Lost a Friend” to the L.A. Wildfires
While speaking with MSNBC on Friday, Garner revealed that her friend died in the Palisades fire that broke out earlier this week. “I did lose a friend, and for our church, it’s really tender so I don’t feel like we should talk about it yet,” she told reporter Katy Tur, as they were surrounded by rows of burned-down homes.
“I did lose a friend. She didn’t get out in time,” Garner repeated while getting visibly emotional. The actress continued, “My heart bleeds for my friends. I mean, I can think of 100 families, and there are 5,000 homes lost. I can—without even [thinking]—I could just write out a list of 100 friends who lost their homes.”
Garner was photographed serving food to firefighters and other evacuees who fled the fires alongside World Central Kitchen’s chef and founder José Andrés. Elsewhere in the interview, Garner praised Andrés for serving the community during such a tragic time. “It is an incredible thing to watch,” Garner told Tur. “World Central Kitchen and Chef José just come in and… ‘We’ve got you. We’ve got this handled. Don’t worry.'”
Currently, Garner lives in a $7.9 million farmhouse in Brentwood, where she allowed her ex-husband Ben Affleck to stay after he evacuated his Palisades estate. Luckily, his house was spared from the flames, but other celebrities—including Paris Hilton, Adam Brody and Leighton Meester, Anna Faris, and Billy Crystal—weren’t so fortunate.
