Katy Perry appears to take a swipe at ex-husband Russell Brand as she reveals she’s ‘no longer attracted to narcissists’
Katy Perry appeared to take a swipe at Russell Brand as she made a jibe about ‘narcissists.’
Speaking in a preview from her interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast, she told host Alex Cooper of her type: ‘I’m no longer attracted to narcissists.
‘Anyone that is constantly changing the goalpost or pulling the rug out from you emotionally, not it. Anyone that says that they know you better than you know yourself. Someone that just won’t help.’
Katy and Russell’s short lived marriage lasted just 14 months, ending abruptly in December 2011 when the comedian told the pop star over text he was divorcing her.
Following their split, Russell branded Katy’s lifestyle ‘vapid’ and ‘vacuous’ in his 2015 documentary BRAND: A Second Coming, while he said of himself: ‘I’m an egotist, I’m a f**ing narcissist; but I’m your narcissist.’

He later claimed that he had ‘changed a lot in the last five years’ and can now see where he went wrong during his 14-month marriage.
In 2017, Russell shared: ‘I don’t compare my relationships now to previous relationships out of respect to my present wife [Laura Gallacher] and to Katy Perry.
‘I think I’m an easier person to be with now. I’m also in a very different situation. I’m dependent on my wife. In relationships, there is always going to be a level of dependency.
‘But I try not to project my problems onto other people and perhaps I’ve not always been like that.’
In October 2023, Russell faced serious accusations from a series of women, including rape and sexual assault when four women made allegations.
The comedian has strenuously denied wrongdoing, and says he has evidence to refute allegations.
Katy has not commented publicly on the allegations.
Katy has also dated the likes of Travie McCoy and Diplo but now has four-year-old daughter Daisy with fiancé Orlando Bloom.
Speaking on the podcast, the Woman’s World hitmaker then revealed the way to her heart is actually through cleaning.
She joked: ‘It’s like if I come downstairs and the kitchen is clean, and you’ve done it all, and you’ve done all the dishes, and you’ve closed all the pantry doors, you better be ready to get your d*** sucked!
‘I mean, like literally. That is my love language. I don’t need a red Ferrari. I can buy a red Ferrari. Just do the f***ing dishes!’
Earlier this year, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star Orlando, 47, admitted he ‘wouldn’t change his relationship for anything’ even though things can be tricky because both of them are trying to navigate their own huge careers.
Speaking on the ‘What Now?’ podcast, he said: ‘I wouldn’t change it for anything, even when sometimes it feels like, ‘how do we do this?’ Because we’ve got these two giant careers and lives, and hers is even, you know… it’s like a universe sometimes.
‘But I think I just keep coming back to her and trying to hold her hand and walk her back to the sand pit and be like… we’re just gonna build a sandcastle.’
The hitmaker also talked about her strict religious upbringing.
Her parents, Mary Christine Perry and Maurice Keith Hudson, are both Pentecostal pastors.
