Travis Kelce Says He Doesn’t Mind Being Taylor Swift’s Arm Candy: ‘It’s the Life I Chose’
“I have fun with it,” Kelce said of his relationship with the pop superstar”
Speaking in a pre-recorded interview on CBS Mornings that aired Thursday, Sept. 5, Kelce, 34, shared that he doesn’t mind being the pop superstar’s arm candy.
“It’s the life I chose, I guess,” Kelce said with a laugh. “I have fun with it.
“It comes with the territory of wanting to do fun activities like this and signing up for cool sponsorships like this and endorsements,” he added during the interview, which was filmed from the set of his Pepsi commercial, a new version of the brand’s 2004 Gladiator-themed commercial, which starred Britney Spears, Beyoncé, Pink and Enrique Iglesias.
As for how his family is handling life in the spotlight, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end said that the Kelces are embracing their newfound fame, especially his mom Donna Kelce.
“Everyone’s loving it. Mama Kelce is having so much fun,” he explained. “I think my dad is slowly getting more comfortable with it, and Jason has always been a pro at it,” he added of his brother, retired Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, 36.
Travis spent much of his summer traveling with Swift, 34, and supporting the musician on her record-breaking Eras Tour, even joining his girlfriend onstage during her June 23 show at London’s Wembley Stadium.
But when it comes to naming his favorite Taylor Swift song, Travis doesn’t have just one.
“Oh, a bunch of them. They’re all my favorite, literally, every single one,” he told CBS Mornings. “You see me at a concert, you’ll see me singing them all.”
Travis went on to open up about why he thinks “people are rooting for him.”
“I hope it’s because they see I’m just a genuinely good person and I love what I do and I love doing it with the people that I’m doing it with,” he added. “I’d rather give everybody happiness and something to cheer about than otherwise.”
Earlier this month, Travis confirmed that Swift has been drawing up plays for him for the NFL season after his teammate Patrick Mahomes recently spilled the beans on the matter.
During an interview on the Rich Eisen Show on Tuesday, Sept. 3, Kelce said, “She’s a little biased and just creates plays for me. We’ll see if they can make it to Coach Reid’s office.”
“She had just been so open to learning the game, she didn’t know much about the rules or anything … I think she was just curious about the profession,” he continued. “I know none of the plays have gotten to Coach Reid yet, but if they ever do I’ll make sure everyone knows it was her creation.”
The couple first sparked dating rumors in September 2023 and Swift attended her first Chiefs game later that month, before the pair confirmed their romance the following month when they stepped out holding hands at a Saturday Night Live after party.
