week, SNL stars Ben Marshall, John Higgins and Martin Herlihy, aka the Please Don’t Destroy trio, talked about how Swift showed some interest in the NFL star long before their relationship hit the headlines.
“So we — and we can cut this out if you guys don’t want to say this — but she kinda told us that she watched his SNL episode, and saw him in our video and was like, ‘Oh, this guy seems funny,’” Marshall remembered. Was it love at first skit?Marshall then went on to joke that they might’ve been the secret to their relationship. “So, like, a little bit [we] brought them together,” the comedian said.
And while the story is sweet, and provides a whole new perspective as to why they connected in the first place, it seems like the SNL stars were initially hesitant to talk about Swift’s crush. At first, they thought about sharing it on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon but ultimately decided against it.
“We were like, ‘I think that if then they break up, we will somehow be, like, pitted as causing this disaster,’” Marshall said. “It’s just a precarious situation. People have strong feelings.”
